Agency History
The roots of our agency date back to March 8, 1914, when Fritz Weirchering established Germania Farm Mutual, Local Chapter 111. In the early years, Chapter Secretaries were the equivalent of today’s Principle Agents. Chapter Secretaries would travel to prospective clients and interview them to determine if they would be a good fit to become part of the local chapter, a.k.a. an insurance client. These interviews helped to ensure quality clients and a favorable loss ratios, while building a loyal book of business based on interpersonal relationships.
In 1919, H.C. Dreyer acquired the business and continued growing it until passing the baton to W.F. Haarmeyer in 1929. In 1958, W.H. Schmidt took over as local Chapter Secretary. The Chapter would remain in the same family for the next 50 years.
Mr. Schmidt’s nephew, R.H. Beerwinkle took over as Secretary from 1979 to 1994, when his son David Beerwinkle came on board. Mr. Beerwinkle took advantage of the rapid growth in the area until his retirement, when he sold the agency to David Coufal on January 1, 2008.
Like the old oak tree behind the office, the agency has seen many changes, yet has continued growing for the last 104 years. Our commitment to vetting potential clients and doing business with quality prospects remains a cornerstone of our agency.
Our Staff
Our policyholders are the heart and soul of our business, and our hardworking staff is its lifeblood. Everyone in our office--from our fully licensed, professional agents to our support staff--works hard for the best interests of our clients day in and day out; and we couldn't be prouder or feel more privileged to serve the insurance needs of Central Texas.
